What
is the b-bus?
b-bus
is convenient, low-cost public transportation from your
home on Cape Cod and back. The Cape Cod Regional Transit
Authority provides this door-to-door, ride-by-appointment
service for people of all ages for trips for any purpose,
including school, work, shopping, college, doctor's appointments,
visiting friends and even Boston medical trips. b-buses
carry up to 19 passengers and are all lift-equipped.
How
do I use b-bus service?
Using
b-bus is simple. b-bus picks you up, takes you where you
want to go and returns you home. As a new subscriber,
call b-bus toll-free at 1-800-352-7155 or locally at 508-385-1430
between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the b-bus scheduler will enroll
you and explain the scheduling system. Once enrolled,
reservations may be made up to a week in advance by calling
between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. The earlier you
make a reservation, the better your chance of getting
a ride the day you desire. You must call, however, by
at least 4 p.m. the day before you need a ride, and
by 4 p.m. on Friday for weekend and Monday
service. Telecommunications Device for the hearing impaired
(TDD) service is available by calling 508-385-4163. b-bus is a
door-to-door service, so your driver may have to pick you up
early to allow time to pick up everyone.
What holidays does the BBUS observe?
The BBUS does not run on January 1, 21, February 18, April 21, May 26, July 4, September 1, October 13, November 11, 27, and December 25, 2008.
How
do I pay for b-bus service?
The b-bus operates on a 'Pre-paid' account system. We will advise riders with an established pattern of use what their average monthly ride costs are. They should then deposit at least this much with us to cover future rides. As the account is used, we will advise of subsequent fare deposits needed to keep the account current.
If you are a new customer, we will make arrangements for payment when you call to schedule your ride. If you have any questions, please contact our operations center at 1-800-352-7155.
Can you be flexible when requesting b-bus service?
The
Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority wants to provide the
best possible service to the greatest number of persons.
We give priority to disabled and elderly residents. People with disabilities will be given absolute
first preference, and can
bump a non-disabled passenger. b-bus
provides nearly 225,000 trips throughout Cape Cod annually,
all made by 33 b-buses. Some trips will be impossible
to schedule exactly when or where you want. You'll be
most satisfied if you can be flexible about your requests.
If you consistently have trouble scheduling trips, the
scheduler will be happy to talk with you to try to resolve
the problem.
